Musicians entertain the crowd at the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival | |
![]() There’s something a little magical about hearing the story behind a song. There’s something even more magical about hearing that song from its creator. And even more magical still is enjoying the music on a fall night with a fresh beer and a fresh Gulf breeze. The Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival brings 11 magical nights to the Gulf Coast each year. From Nov. 13-23, visitors can hear from 300 songwriters in some two dozen venues. The songwriters come from all parts of the world, from all genres of music. Some are Nashville celebrities, some are newcomers, but all share a passion for music, and all are eager to share their poetry. There are songwriters performing country, Southern rock, folk, bluegrass, gospel, Americana, pop, top 40 and alternative. A few highlights include national renowned rock artist Pat McGee, who takes the Flora-Bama stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13. Also playing the first weekend are David Lee, who wrote “Letters from home” and Wynn Barble, who wrote “Have you forgotten.” Come and hear their stories and join in the magic of original music.
