
The Saenger Theatre has re-opened on Palafox Place following a $15 million renovation to return the historic landmark to its original grandeur. As patrons step inside the crowned-jewel of Downtown Pensacola, they are transformed back in time to the elegance of the 1920s. The Spanish-Baroque theatre is elegantly dressed in gold and crimson, with intricate ornamental details accenting the stage and a brilliant ceiling mural brought back to life with historically accurate paint. Though the seats are larger and more comfortable, the original mold of chair, stamped with an "S" was used for an artistic touch.
The house was packed for "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Thursday night. Watch this short video of opening night:
