Spain and Egypt - in Pensacola!

Visitors and residents to Pensacola are in for a real cultural treat the first weekend of May. In conjunction with the city’s 450th anniversary, renowned Spanish artist Miguel Zapata will present a lecture during opening night of his exhibit at the Pensacola Museum of Art. Zapata is one of Spain’s leading contemporary artists, known for using images during the Renaissance period. Included in the exhibit will be three works by Zapata inspired by Pensacola’s rich history. The lecture is 6-8 p.m. on April 30, with the exhibit running through June.

On Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3, visitors have the chance to see the newly renovated Saenger Theatre for the Pensacola Opera’s Aida. The Pensacola Opera will bring the magic of Egypt on stage, complete with more than 100 performers and even an elephant. The ZOO Northwest Florida will give elephant rides to children and adults April 29 - May 3.
