Fun Drinks and Surprising Fare at Angus

Food and drinks at the Angus Pensacola Florida scenic hwy

One of Pensacola’s oldest dining establishments, the Angus, welcomes a new, young chef with creative fare. The 41-year-old restaurant on Scenic Highway still serves great steaks, but patrons will find dishes to have an intercontinental flair and the drinks to be colorful and festive. The bar’s “sippers,” for those too sophisticated for a shot, come in a variety of fun flavors from pineapple upside down cake to oatmeal cookie and chocolate covered espresso bean. The Pensacola Afternoon is a masculine version of sangria (mangria?) with red wine, bourbon, oranges and bitters. The olive tapenade with blue cheese and the fresh tomato bruschetta with feta and basil are a refreshing start to the filet. However, a favorite is the shrimp and crab soliel, with stone ground grits from the mountains, topped with lump crab meat and shrimp. Give Chef Martelle Lorenz a try.
