Though many believe the season of celebrating is over once the New Year begins, for numerous revelers and krewes in Pensacola, the celebrating has just begun. Join the fun on Jan. 6, the twelfth day of Christmas, at 7 p.m., as Pensacola kicks off the Mardi Gras season with the Wind Creek Twelfth Night Mardi Gras Kick Off Celebration on the streets of downtown.
During this free, massive street party, you can admire the ornate floats made by local Pensacola krewes, indulge in a slice or two of traditional king cake authentic to Mardi Gras and tap your toes along with Pensacola’s second line jazz band as they fill the streets with lively jazz music. Following a timeless Mardi Gras tradition, the krewes’ floats will be blessed by Father Jack Gray and Pensacola’s Mayor Hayward before being recognized by the town crier, who will deliver an official declaration of their arrival.
Let the good times roll, as masked characters fill the street and celebrate late into the night in downtown Pensacola.
